Child Workers in the SHADOW of AIDS - Listening to the Children
/
2001
Abstract:
This study examines the lives of young workers in Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda. Their stories create a picture of neglect, isolation and vulnerability to sexual exploitation, to physical and verbal abuse and to grinding poverty. The report reveals the layers of interlinked child rights violated by both HIV/AIDS and child labour: the rights to health, to education, to freedom from poverty, and to freedom from all forms of exploitation and abuse.
