Abstract:
The National HIV Prevention Strategy for Tanzania Mainland aims to guide comprehensive multi-sectoral HIV prevention efforts of all stakeholders during the expanded phase of HIV prevention in the country. Several national level programme reviews of Tanzania?s HIV/AIDS response identified the need for a comprehensive HIV prevention strategy to guide accelerated HIV prevention efforts in the country. The recommendations concluded that it is critical for Tanzania to have comprehensive HIV prevention strategy that is based on current knowledge of what is driving the epidemic and targeting population groups where the majority of new infections are occurring.
